Frequently Asked Questions about Willow Spring Farms

How do I schedule an appointment to visit Willow Spring Farms?

Call our number at (215) 538-2179 and we’ll set up a time with you within our schedule.

What are your hours and when do you take calls?

All horse visitations and transactions are done on an appointment basis only. We take business calls from 9am and 9pm.

How many horses to do you currently have?

We currently have 3 active Quarter Horse mares for breeding, along with 1 Colt and 1 Philly that are for sale. We also have 1 mixed breed Gelding, 1 mixed breed Philly, two male miniature ponies and 1 Quarter Horse mare in our rescue program. In total there are 10 horses on our farm.

What is the layout of the horses' living area?

We have designated roughly 10 acres of land for our horses, which is fenced in with a solar powered electric fence, and subdivided into 7 separate sections. Within this area we have erected 3 shelters for the horses, one of them with stalls built in for the horses during feeding time.

What are your horses fed?

The two primary parts of our horses diets are locally grown hay and grass that grows in the horse fields. We also feed our horses a variety of grains, depending on their individual dietary needs.

What kind of veterinary and hygienic care do the horses receive?

All of our horses get regular vet checkups twice a year. We also schedule regular Ferrier appointments to make sure that the horses' hoofs don't get too long.

How do I donate to Willow Spring Farms?

Visit the Donate page, fill out a donation form and send in a donation via personal check, certified check, or money order. We do not recommend mailing cash, but if you wish to schedule an appointment and decide to donate while at the farm, we will accept a cash donation, but we still need a donation form along with the donation. We are not set up to take credit card payments.

Do you ride your horses and do you offer riding lessons?

We do not offer horse riding lessons and currently no one here rides. Candy plans on possibly doing some riding later on, but as of now no one is riding our horses.

Are your horses trained?

Our adult Quarter Horse Breeders are trained, though they have not been ridden in a couple years and are not for sale. The Colt and Phillies that were born here have yet to be trained. If you are an experienced trainer, or if you know someone that you can refer us to, please contact us at the number listed above.

What is the difference between making a donation and sponsoring a horse?

Sponsoring a horse entails making regular monthly donations geared towards a specific horse here at the farm. There are two separate sponsor programs that you can enter into, each of which have their own stipulations that are listed on the Sponsor Form.

Can I volunteer to work at Willow Spring Farms?

We are definitely open to anyone with experience handling horses to assist us in the upkeep of these amazing animals. We have a Volunteer Questionnaire and Application Form that we will need filled out before hand to assess your qualifications and what services you would like to perform. We are particularly interested in anyone willing to assist in stall cleaning, brushing, and feeding.
